Phelan Barker has partnered with Optimum for over a decade, originally developing the brand identity, website, and marketing materials and continuing to support the company as it grows. This long-standing relationship has allowed the brand to evolve while remaining consistent and recognisable ensuring Optimum’s presence reflects both its professionalism and its people-first approach.

The Brief

The project began with the creation of a brand identity that would convey professionalism, trust and clarity. Alongside this, the brief included designing a customer-friendly website with a secure client portal, as well as a full suite of brand guidelines and marketing materials to support business growth and communications.

This brand identity reflects two core principles that sit at the heart of Optimum’s purpose and approach. Firstly, it draws on the confident “O” form, representing Optimum itself as clear, direct, and immediately recognisable. This foundational shape provides a strong and flexible visual anchor for the wider identity system.

Secondly, the design concept goes beyond the initial letterform to encapsulate the idea of the life cycle, symbolising the ongoing journey that clients experience with Optimum. It reflects the continuous nature of financial planning, guidance, and support over time, rather than a single moment of interaction. The identity therefore becomes a visual metaphor for progression, stability, and long-term partnership.

Together, these principles communicate Optimum’s role in steering clients through their financial journeys with clarity and confidence. It reinforces their commitment to providing independent advice that evolves alongside each client’s needs, ensuring support that is both responsive and enduring.
