For basic email requirements, a standard POP3 (Post Office Protocol) or IMAP (Internet Messaging Access Protocol) will give you the facilities to send, receive and manage emails. If you need more advanced features, such as back-up, synchronisation with calendar applications or automated responses, we recommend Office 365.
With an IMAP account, your emails are stored on an external server with 400MB capacity, and incoming messages can be accessed from multiple desktop or mobile devices. POP3 accounts only provide access and store emails on a single device.
These accounts are free of charge and provide unlimited mailboxes when taken with a hosting service. They provide basic functionality and connectivity to mobile devices, but do not support synchronisation for sent mail, contacts or calendar applications.
Office 365 accounts provide you with a dedicated high-capacity 50GB mailbox with cloud storage and back-up for all your emails. You can access emails on any mobile or desktop device, and your messages and contacts will be synchronised across all your selected devices as well as applications such as calendars and notes. This account costs £10 per user per month.
Our service includes full management of your mailboxes to monitor and resolve any issues. We can also set up email accounts on your employees’ devices using remote facilities. That service is free. If you need installation on your premises or migration of email from existing accounts, we can provide the service
